NEW DELHI: Due to heavy fog conditions, Delhi airport issued an advisory stating that non-CAT III compliant flights would be affected.
Taking to social media X, the authority wrote in a post “While landing and take offs continue at Delhi airport, flights that are not CAT III compliant may get affected.”
The airport management asked passengers to check with their respective airlines for updated flight information, expressing regret for any inconvenience.
“Passengers are requested to contact the airline concerned for updated flight information,” the post further read.
The inconvenience caused to passengers is regretted.
“Any inconvenience caused is deeply regretted,” the post further read.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department, the city registered a minimum temperature of 9.6 degrees Celsius at 5:30 a.m.
The city’s Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 348, falling in the ‘very poor’ category.
The AQI scale categorises readings as follows: 0-50 as ‘good’, 51-100 as ‘satisfactory’, 101-200 as ‘moderate’, 201-300 as ‘poor’, 301-400 as ‘very poor’, and 401-500 as ‘severe’.
As temperatures decreased in the national capital, people without homes sought refuge in night shelters.
The Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) established 235 pagoda tents to accommodate homeless individuals. Night shelters were installed across various locations including AIIMS, Lodhi Road, and Nizamuddin flyover.
Local residents were observed huddling around bonfires or seeking warmth in night shelters as the mercury continued to fall.
The severe winter conditions persisted across other northern states of the country as well.
