Meerut: A major accident was averted in Saharanpur when an iron gate was discovered on the tracks near Tapri station Tuesday night as the Anand Vihar-Kotdwar Express was approaching. The train was halted after officials were alerted. An FIR has been filed in the case.
“The gate, measuring 5ft by 4ft and weighing over 50kg, was found on tracks around 1am. A gateman heard the noise of the iron gate falling nearly 2km from the station and alerted officials,” said station superintendent Sunil Kumar. “We’re treating this as a possible sabotage attempt,” Kumar said.
