NEW DELHI: Congress will organise “chaupals” in every district to press for the resignation of home minister Amit Shah for his “disparaging remarks” on B R Ambedkar, as part of a month-long campaign “Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhan”.
Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera said the “chaupals” will tell people that BJP-RSS has been insulting Ambedkar and demeaning the Constitution for decades, and Shah’s remarks are part of the same ideological mindset. The campaign will culminate on Jan 26 with a grand rally at Mhow in Madhya Pradesh, the birthplace of Ambedkar, commemorating 75 years of Constitution.
Also, to safeguard Ambedkar’s legacy, “Samvidhan Bachao Rashtriya Padayatra” will be organised from Jan 26, 2025, to Jan 26, 2026, under which marches will be held in villages and towns across India, the party said.
