NEW DELHI: Congress MPs from Punjab Thursday held a dharna at Parliament against the police crackdown on farmers protesting at Shambhu and Khanauri borders, calling AAP and BJP govts in state and the Centre “anti-farmer”.
Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge said “the two anti-farmer parties” have joined hands against the farmers and it is condemnable that the Punjab govt called the farmers for talks and then forcibly removed them from the protest sites. “Both BJP and AAP, intoxicated with the arrogance of power, have worked against the farmers,” he said.
Rahul Gandhi also met the MPs who held placards in support of the farmers. The MPs said Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann has a nexus with BJP.
