NEW DELHI: A scuffle and mild stone pelting occurred between two groups during the Mangla Julus procession, part of the Ram Navami celebrations on Tuesday night at Jhanda Chawk in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand.
The incident occurred when one group played certain songs during the procession, which the second group objected to, leading to a brief altercation.
The situation, however, did not escalate further as the forces deployed at the scene quickly took control, ensuring peace was restored.
“As of now, the situation is peaceful and under control. Adequate forces have been deployed at the spot,” stated Nancy Sahay, deputy commissioner of Hazaribagh.
A similar incident transpired during Holi celebrations in Giridih district.
Violence erupted between two groups during a Holi celebration in Giridih district of Jharkhand, leading to multiple injuries and the alleged burning of three shops. Law enforcement personnel were dispatched to maintain order.
The altercation began in Ghodthamba when members of one community objected to a Holi procession passing through their locality. The situation intensified as both groups engaged in throwing stones at each other.
“A large police contingent was deployed to restore peace in the area. The situation is under control and is being monitored closely,” said Khorimahua Sub-divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Rajendra Prasad.
The authorities have maintained a strong presence in the area to prevent any further escalation of violence between the groups.
