ChatGPT-maker OpenAI CEO Sam Altman to Perplexity AI’s Desi CEO: ‘...since you nicely apologised to me in person for all the mean tweets..’

Sam Altman, the CEO of ChatGPT-maker OpenAI, recently had a friendly banter with Perplexity AI chief Aravind Srinivas. Both flexed the capabilities provided by their AI models with latter ‘challenging’ Google CEO Sundar Pichai for the next move.
The conversation started after Altman posted that the company “put out an update to chatgpt (4o)” to which Srinivas replied, curiously seeking the details.
we put out an update to chatgpt (4o).
it is pretty good.
it is soon going to get much better, team is cooking.

“sorry what’s the update?” Srinivas asked, to which Altman replied, “among many other things, it’s the best search product on the web! check it out and lmk what you think.”

Srinivas says “lol, i just mogged you yday”
Srinivas then told Altman that the Perplexity AI ‘outshone them’ by announcing deep research agent.
“Excited to introduce the Perplexity Deep Research Agent: available for free to all users. Paid users only need to pay $20/mo to access an expert level researcher on any topic for 500 daily queries, and need to wait less than three minutes for getting a full research report,” he said in a post.

since you nicely apologized to me in person for all the mean tweets last week, im going to let this go 🙂
keep cooking out there! proud of you.

“Citations are still an issue in deep research. let’s get back to shipping,” Srinivas said in a reply.
In a separate post, Srinivas shared the popular Spider Man meme with a twist. He also challenged Google CEO Sundar Pichai for the next ‘move’.
