NEW DELHI: A trip to Kaziranga National Park turned horrific for a woman and her daughter after they narrowly escaped a potentially deadly encounter with a rhino during vehicle safari on Sunday, according to park officials.
The mother and daughter were on a safari in the Bagori range when the girl accidentally fell from the open vehicle. In a split second, her mother jumped out to rescue her.
The rhino, which had been nearby, was seen approaching the duo in a video. The driver of the vehicle reacted swiftly, halting the safari vehicle just in time to allow the two to climb back in safely.
While neither the mother nor the daughter suffered any physical injuries, they were left in shock.
The official overseeing the park, then pointed out the importance of caution during safaris, reminding tourists to follow all safety guidelines when inside the park.
Kaziranga National Park, a Unesco world heritage site, is renowned for being home to the greater one-horned rhinoceros, among other wildlife species. Tourists are urged to respect the park’s rules to ensure their safety and protect the unique ecosystem.
