Book journalist Rana Ayyub for 'hate speech', orders court

NEW DELHI: A Delhi court has ordered an FIR against journalist Rana Ayyub for allegedly posting hate speech and promoting religious enmity through a series of posts on social media platform X.
The complaint was filed by Amita Sachdeva, an advocate, alleging Ayyub’s posts had insulted Hindu deities and spread anti-India sentiment. Sachdeva claimed that in one of the posts, Ayyub made malicious allegations against Vinayak Damodar Savarkar and referred to him as a terrorist sympathiser.
Chief judicial magistrate Himanshu Raman Singh, in his Jan 25 order, noted the gravity of the allegations and said it was expedient to order an investigation into the matter.
