NEW DELHI: Delhi chief minister and AAP leader Atishi took a jibe at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over no CM face for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections. While lashing out, she added that BJP has decided to make Ramesh Bidhuri its CM face for the national capital, “who hurls the most abuses.”
Atishi’s remarks come on the heels of a BJP core committee meeting, with the party expected to finalise its strategy later today.
Addressing the media, Atishi said, “Today, the entire Delhi is asking from the ‘Galli-Galoch’ party who is its CM face. The people of Delhi know that by voting for AAP, Arvind Kejriwal will become the CM. But they are asking who will be BJP’s CM face.”
“Through credible sources, we have found that the ‘Galli-Galoch’ party has decided that its CM face will be the one leader who hurls the most abuses, which is Ramesh Bidhuri,” she added.
Her remarks underscore the escalating tensions between AAP and BJP as both parties gear up for the Delhi elections. While AAP projects Arvind Kejriwal as its chief ministerial face, BJP has yet to officially announce its candidate, fueling speculation and criticism from political opponents.
A few days ago, Bidhuri and Atishi got engaged in a verbal spat over BJP leader and Kalkaji candidate’s controversial remark over Priyanka Gandhi and Atishi.
He drew flak for his remarks on the Congress leader that he would make roads in Kalkaji like “Priyanka Gandhi’s cheeks”. He also targeted Atishi over dropping her surname. “This Marlena (surname used earlier by Atishi) became Singh and changed her name. Kejriwal swore over his children not to go with the corrupt Congress; Marlena changed fathers. Earlier she was Marlena; now she has become Singh. This is their character,” Bidhuri charged.
A day later, the AAP leader broke down over Bidhuri’s remark against her. “I want to tell Ramesh Bidhuri, that my father was a teacher throughout his life, he has taught thousands of children coming from poor and lower-middle-class families, now he is 80 years old…now he is so ill that he can’t even walk without help. Will you (Ramesh Bidhuri) do such a dirty thing for the sake of election? He has come down to the situation where he is abusing an old man. I never thought that this country’s politics could stoop so low,” she said.
