The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has alleged a deterioration of law and order in Jharkhand under the JMM-led government, claiming that Maoist activities have surged due to the “inefficiency” of the state’s machinery. At a press conference on Friday, Jharkhand BJP chief Dr Ravindra Rai voiced concerns over the increasing extremism and criminal activities in the state, accusing the coalition government of failing to maintain control.
Rai described the state as having turned into a “den of criminals” due to the inefficiency of officials and the “whimsical approach” of the state’s administration. He pointed to the resurgence of Maoist forces in rural and forest areas as evidence of the government’s failure.
“The resurgence of Naxals and the recovery of sophisticated weapons such as AK-47s during raids show that outlawed groups are regaining strength under the current regime,” he stated. Rai also criticized the government for its inability to curb the rise in criminal incidents in major cities like Ranchi, Dhanbad, and Jamshedpur, leading to growing insecurity among the business community, women, and the general public.
The BJP leader further urged administrative officers to focus on their duties rather than serving the interests of the ruling government. Rai concluded by warning that if the situation does not improve, the BJP would have no choice but to take to the streets in protest.
