NEW DELHI: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi extended support to the students as their protests gain momentum, accusing the BJP of “destroying the future of the youth.”
In a statement on X, the leader of opposition alleged that the BJP government was undermining the future of India’s youth. Drawing a parallel with the Ekalavya, Rahul said, “cutting the thumb of the youth of India just like Ekalavya, destroying their future.”
Rahul criticised the recruitment process in the country, saying, “Failure in government recruitment is a big injustice. First, recruitment is not announced. Even if recruitment is announced, the exams are not held on time. If exams are held, the papers are leaked. And when the youth demand justice, their voice is ruthlessly crushed.”
Referring to recent incidents in Madhya Pradesh, he alleged that two students protesting irregularities in the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) exams were arrested.
“After the recent incidents in UP and Bihar, now two students protesting against the irregularities in MPPSC in Madhya Pradesh have been put in jail. That too when the chief minister himself had met the students and assured them of considering their demands. The BJP government has broken the trust of the students and strangled the democratic system,” Rahul said in response to a post from the Madhya Pradesh Congress unit.
Rahul assured the protesting students of his unwavering support. “We are with the students in their fight for their rights. We will not let the BJP suppress the voice of the rights of the youth of the country at any cost,” he said.
The protests in Bihar also saw the involvement of Purnea MP Pappu Yadav. Earlier today, Yadav’s supporters organized a ‘rail roko’ protest at Sachiwalay Halt Railway Station to express solidarity with the students. However, the police swiftly intervened and dispersed the crowd.
The aspirants, who are demonstrating in Patna, are demanding the cancellation of the Integrated Combined (Preliminary) Competitive Examination (CCE) 2024 conducted by the BPSC on December 13.
