BJP anti-poor & anti-Constitution, claims Priyanka Gandhi Vadra

BELAGAVI: At its ‘Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhan’ rally in Belagavi Tuesday, the Congress brass criticised the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre. Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi led the charge as she slammed BJP and RSS for allegedly insulting the Constitution and its architect, B R Ambedkar.
“Many governments have come and gone, including non-Congress ones, but no government had a minister who stood in Parliament and insulted Ambedkar,” she said, a reference to home minister Amit Shah’s recent remarks in RS.
Addressing the rally in the absence of Rahul Gandhi, who could not attend due to health reasons, Priyanka accused the Centre of consistently adopting anti-Constitutional and anti-poor policies.
Priyanka said RSS men had burned Ambedkar’s effigy and criticised him and BJP felt emboldened to insult Ambedkar and his Constitution.
The rally, held to mark centenary of 1924 Congress session in Belagavi, which Mahatma Gandhi chaired, saw thousands in attendance.
Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge called Priyanka a symbol of “stree shakti” and referred to Rahul as a symbol of “yuva shakti”. He condemned BJP for trying to create divisions by falsely claiming differences between Gandhi and Ambedkar. Kharge alleged that RSS was “troubling” Dalits and backward communities in universities while preventing their recruitment in government sectors.
