Newlywed killed by husband in UP over Rs 5,000 demand

BIJNOR: A 22-year-old woman was killed by her husband less than a month after their marriage, allegedly over her family’s inability to provide Rs 5,000 he had demanded, in Hussainpur village, Dhampur, Bijnor district, late Monday night.
Police said the incident came to light when neighbors informed the woman’s family. Shoeb Ahmad, 25, had been pressuring his wife, Tarannum, to bring money from her maternal family. On Monday evening, he visited his in-laws to demand Rs 5,000, but they could not provide it. The family claimed that Shoeb, who was intoxicated, returned home and killed Tarannum in anger.
Additional SP Dharam Singh Marchal said, “The body was sent to the district hospital for autopsy, and the woman’s family filed a complaint against five people, including Shoeb and his father, Anees Ahmad. Police have detained Shoeb and Anees, and the investigation is ongoing.”
