NEW DELHI: South African fast bowler Anrich Nortje has been ruled out of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 and the remainder of the SA20 for Pretoria Capitals due to a back injury.
The 31-year-old pacer, initially named in South Africa’s Champions Trophy squad, underwent scans on Monday, which confirmed the severity of the injury.
Nortje’s recovery timeline will prevent him from featuring in the 50-over tournament, where South Africa is set to kick off their campaign against Afghanistan on 21 February in Karachi, Pakistan. His replacement in the squad will be announced shortly.
