Anmol Bishnoi gang behind Baba Siddiqui’s murder: Mumbai crime branch charge sheet

MUMBAI: The Anmol Bishnoi gang was behind the murder of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and former minister of state Baba Siddiqui and the killing was part of a calculated strategy to instill fear and assert dominance.
On Monday, the Mumbai Crime Branch submitted a 4,590-page charge sheet to the Special MCOCA Court in this high-profile case.
Siddiqui was gunned down on October 12, last year, near the Nirmalnagar Police Station in Bandra (East).
The chargesheet names 26 arrested individuals and identifies three absconding suspects: Mohammad Yasin Akhtar (alias Sikandar), Shubham Rameshwar Lonkar (alias Shubbu), and Anmol Lavinder Singh Bishnoi (alias Bhanu).
Investigations revealed that Anmol, a key member of an organized crime syndicate, masterminded the murder.
Officials confirmed that the killing was carefully planned to strengthen the gang’s influence and instill fear among both rivals and the public.
The chargesheet outlines the roles of the accused, the murder plot, and includes extensive evidence such as witness statements, forensic findings linking the suspects to the crime scene, and digital communication records implicating the gang in the murder.
The case, initially registered at Nirmalnagar Police Station, was later transferred to the Crime Branch for a more thorough investigation.
In the months following the murder, 26 suspects were arrested across various states, though three key accused remain at large.
Authorities are confident that the substantial evidence gathered will ensure justice for Siddiqui’s family and the society. The case is now set for trial in the Special MCOCA Court, while efforts continue to apprehend the remaining fugitives.
