NEW DELHI: Expanding the ‘Fast Track Immigration-Trusted Traveller Program’ (FTI-TTP), which enables faster immigration for pre-verified flyers through automated e-gates based on biometric authentication, home minister Amit Shah will launch the service Thursday at airports in Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Cochin, and Ahmedabad.
The program is already running successfully at Indira Gandhi International airport here since June 2024. An official had earlier said FTI-TTP has enabled 60% faster immigration clearance for those enrolled for it. “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the ‘Fast Track Immigration-Trusted Traveller Program’ is a significant initiative under the ‘Viksit Bharat’@2047 vision. Its objective is to provide world-class immigration facilities to travellers, making international travel seamless and secure,” the ministry said. Both Indian citizens and OCI cardholders can avail of the facility free of cost. Shah will inaugurate the FTI-TTP facility at the new airports from Ahmedabad, taking the total number of airports covered so far to eight. The plan is to expand the program to cover 21 airports in the country.
FTI-TTP has been implemented through online portal: https://ftittp.mha.gov.in. To enroll, applicants need to complete online registration by filling in their details and uploading the required documents on the portal. The biometric data of registered applicants will be captured either at Foreigners Regional Registration Office or while passing through the airport. Travellers need to scan their airline-issued boarding pass at the e-gate, followed by scanning their passport. At the arrival and departure points, the passenger’s biometrics will be authenticated at e-gates. Once authentication is successful, the e-gate will open, and immigration clearance will be deemed granted.
