Ahmedabad event manager assaulted, mocked over her height
25-year-old woman from Ahmedabad filed a complaint against a man who insulted her height and hit her during an argument

AHMEDABAD: A 25-year-old resident of Shyamal Crossroads area on Sunday filed a complaint against a man for allegedly mocking her over height and also hitting her on the head during the ensuing argument.
The incident happened when the woman, who works for an event management firm, was having pani puri with her two friends on Saturday afternoon. According to her complaint, they were joined by a common friend, who allegedly started commenting on her height.
“He said that had my parents had stretched my arms and legs as a child, I would have been taller. I told him there was no need to comment on my height or body,” the woman stated in her complaint with Anandnagar police.
Her friends too made fun and laughed at her, due to which she stopped talking to the common friend. As they were leaving, the complainant told the accused that she didn’t want to see him again. Angered, the accused allegedly made a derogatory comment and after getting into his car, continued to threaten her, saying that he “doesn’t hit girls, or he would have shown her”.
“I dared him to touch me and he got out of his car and hit me on the left side of my head thrice. My friends intervened to protect me,” she stated in her complaint. The woman filed a police complaint on her father’s advice. Police have registered a case under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Section 74 (assault or use of criminal force to a woman with intent to outrage her modesty) along with other sections.
