Mumbai: Bengal opener Abhimanyu Easwaran, who was with the Indian team in Australia during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy but didn’t get to play a Test, has sustained a hairline fracture on the middle finger of his right hand and is thus out of action for the next few weeks, TOI has learnt.
It means that Easwaran will not be able to play in the Ranji Trophy for the next few matches.
“Yes, he has sustained a hairline fracture on the middle finger of his right hand while playing a club match,” revealed a source in the BCCI to this paper.
Knocking on the doors of national selection for quite a while, Easwaran has been a regular member of the India A sides which have toured in the past few years.
The 29-year-old has scored 7674 runs in 101 first-class matches at an average of 48.87, with 27 centuries and 29 half-centuries and a highest score of 233.
He has also scored 3857 runs in 89 List A matches at an average of 47,03, with nine hundreds and 23 fifties.
