Ram Gopal Varma gets sentenced to three months imprisonment as non bailable warrant is issued against him in a cheque bounce case

Ram Gopal Varma is recently celebrating the re-release of his film Satya. He was spotted in Mumbai after while. The film-maker who is largely in the news for his controversial statements, is now in trouble as he’s been sentenced to three months of Jail.
The case was filed against the film-maker by a film called ‘Shree’ in 2018. The director has been facing some financial trouble as he’s not made any movie in recent times and his previous movies also have not performed well in the last few years. The film-maker was released on mail in 2022 after he paid a cash security of Rs 5000. According to India Today, the Mumbai Magistrate court has now sentenced him to three months of imprisonment in this cheque bound case. The director was called for a hearing in court on Tuesday, January 21. But he did not appear in court. Thus, the court accused him under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act. The court has also directed to give Rs 3.72 lakh to the complainant as compensation.
This act deals with the dishonor of cheques due to insufficient funds or exceeding the agreed payment amount. Morevoer, a non bailable warrant has been issued for his arrest.
