NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday targeted Aam Aadmi Party-led government in Delhi over its failure to provide basic needs like water, saying that the people had access to alcohol but not clean water.
Addressing the Bharaitya Janata Party workers, PM Modi said that “liquor is available but water is not”, adding that his party would run a huge campaign to ensure that drinking water reached everyone if elected to power.
“The AAP-da has failed to fulfill any of its responsibilities,” he said, urging BJP members to document poor road conditions, inadequate drainage systems, and overflowing garbage, among other issues, to highlight the failures of the AAP government.
He urged for the defeat of the Arvind Kejriwal-led party, saying that it would pave the way towards achieving the vision of transforming Delhi into a developed capital.
“The people of Delhi are very clear about two things and every BJP worker must feel that the people of Delhi are saying that they saw the Congress government for 14-15 years, then suffered AAP-Da for the last 11 years. 25 years is a long time. That is why the common man is saying that ‘We will remove AAP and bring BJP to power’,” he said.
“Delhi’s youth hates AAP and is in a mood to punish them. He has seen how AAP-D people lied to Delhi and committed scams. Every booth worker of BJP has to become the voice of the youth of Delhi. Meeting every first time voter of your booth should also be your priority,” he added.

After Arvind Kejriwal announced 7-demand manifesto for middle class targeting the Centre, PM Modi said that was “making new announcements everyday as it is daily receiving information of losing ground in various parts of Delhi.”
This party engaged in lies and deceit, and the Congress followed by the AAP has betrayed people massively in the last 25 years, he added.
AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal unveiled a seven-point “manifesto” targeting the middle class, accusing successive governments of neglecting this vital segment of society and subjecting them to “tax terrorism.” In a video message, Kejriwal described the middle class as the backbone and “real superpower” of the Indian economy, emphasizing their consistent exploitation as a primary source of tax revenue.
The seven-point charter outlined measures to address the challenges faced by the middle class. Key proposals included increasing the education budget from the current 2% to 10%, capping private school fees, and introducing subsidies and scholarships for higher education to ensure access to quality education for all.
Delhi polls are set to take place on February 5. Votes would be counted on February 8.
