Kamala Harris and her husband Doug Emhoff are back in Los Angeles as they formally left the White House. According to reports, she visited a fire station and distributed food to the victims. This is her first visit to her home state since the deadly blazes began on Jan 7.
Kamala Harris’ Brentwood mansion is at the center of an area that had evacuations and it was apprehended that her mansion would not remain unscathed. Harris told her aides earlier that she wanted to visit LA sooner but it could never materialize.
Amid the raging fire, there was a burglary attempt call from her house as well. But later the two arrester persons were released as there was no evidence that they were standing in front of Kamala Harris’ house for burglary.
What’s next for Kamala Harris?
This is the first time Kamala Harris is out of public life in the last two decades. Before becoming the vice president, Kamala Harris was the senator of California from 2017 to 2021. From 2011 to 2017, she was the Attorney General of California and from 2004 to 20211, she was the District Attorney of San Francisco.
She is now considering a run for California governor in 2026, according to her aides.
Kamala Harris hinted at remaining in politics as she said she would not go quietly into the night. “You all know me because we have spent long hours, long days and months and years together,” Harris said Friday, January 17, as she completed the tradition of signing the vice president’s desk drawer.
“It is not my nature to go quietly into the night. So, don’t worry about that,” Kamala Harris said.
After Trump’s inauguration, Harris headed to Joint Base Andrews to take her last official flight home to California. NYT reported that it was an all-female US Air Force crew.

Kamala Harris has launched a new website for her detailing her accomplishments throughout her political career. “From her barrier-breaking time as District Attorney of San Francisco and Attorney General of California, to proudly serving as a United States Senator and the Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris always fights for the people,” the site said.
