Amid intense speculations over their marital discord, former president Barack Obama was spotted attending a private dinner party on Saturday night without wife Michelle Obama. Obama reached Osteria Mozza and joined a small group that included Joe Biden’s White House Chief of Staff Jeff Zients who arrived after Obama, PageSix reported.
As Obama entered the restaurant, people dining there greeted him with a round of applause following which he headed to a private dining room.
According to reports, Obama was all smiling though he did not stop for photographs.
After missing the funeral ceremony of Jimmy Carter where Michelle had to sit beside Donald Trump, her office confirmed that Michelle Obama would also skip Donald Trump’s inauguration. For missing Donald Trump’s inauguration, Michelle Obama’s office did not provide any reason while her aides said she couldn’t fake it.
Michelle Obama’s continued absence from the scene triggered speculations over their divorce and rumors that Barack Obama was dating actor Jennifer Aniston. But Barack put these speculations to rest as he posted a warm wish for Michelle Obama’s birthday calling her the “love of my life”.
Trump team says they didn’t expect Michelle Obama to come anyway
Donald Trump’s team apparently had a good laugh that Michelle Obama is not coming to the swearing-in event. They said they were not even expecting her. “It’s obvious that this was her way of protesting Trump. She hates him,” one said.
Michelle Obama’s aides said she was not breaking any protocol by not attending Donald Trump’s inauguration as Donald Trump and Melania Trump did not attend Joe Biden’s inauguration in 2021.
Michelle Obama apparently did not like Barack Obama chitchatting with Donald Trump at Jimmy Carter’s funeral and hammered home the message that she can’t be as flaky as that.
Kid Rock’s message to Michelle Obama
Kid Rock took a brutal swipe at Michelle Obama for her decision to skip the inauguration. He said in 2009 he was asked to perform at the Youth Inaugural Ball after Barack Obama was sworn into office. “I would kindly remind her [Michelle] that years back when Obama was first elected, I did not vote for him. But they asked me to play the inauguration. And I played it, and I went. I had a good time. I went out of respect for the president, so I would kindly remind Michelle about that,” Kid Rock said.
