The knife attack on actor Saif Ali Khan sent shockwaves to everyone. Fortunately for his fans and family, the prime suspect in the matter, identified as Shariful Islam has been arrested by the police and was presented at the court on Sunday. According to the latest reports, the accused friend was approached, who claimed that he could have never imagined Shariful to commit such a crime.
“I have been following the news of the attack on Saif Ali Khan. Even I kept wondering as to who would intrude into such a high profile person and attack… Jitna main jaanta hu, mujhe laga nahi vo itna bada kuch kar sakta hai (as far as I know, I never thought he could commit such a huge crime),” Rohmat Khan, 25, friend of the arrested accused to the Indian Express
As per the police briefing, it has been revealed that Shariful Islam who earlier called himself Viajy Das is from Rajabariya village Jhalokathi district of Bangladesh. His original name is Shariful Islam Sajjad Mohammed Rohilla Amin Fakeer, and he used the fake name because he entered India illegally.
He was arrested in Thane on Sunday and since his family was not in the city, the police informed his close friend about the arrest.
Further, in her interaction with the media outlet, Rohmat Khan gave details of the accused previous employment as well. He mentioned that Shariful got the job through a contractor and worked with the Thane branch of Hotel Blabber All Day in the housekeeping section, while Khan was in the cafeteria section.
“He seemed to be a kind-hearted man. He never had any argument or fight with anyone and was good at his work,” added Rohmat Khan.
He also claimed that the accused never spoke about his family, his past, or any connection to Bangladesh.
Meanwhile, as we speak, Saif Ali Khan is recovering from the stab injuries and will be returning home soon, confirm the doctors. Further, the Mumbai Police might take the accused to Saif’s apartment to recreate the crime scene to proceed with their investigation.
