International Cricket Council (ICC) Chair Jay Shah is off to Lausanne ahead of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) session on January 30 at the Olympic House. Shah is likely to have some meetings with regards to cricket at the Olympics.
Shah was also in Brisbane last month to push for cricket’s inclusion at the 2032 Olympics. The ICC chair had meetings with Brisbane Olympic organising committee chief Cindy Hook and Cricket Australia (CA) CEO Nick Hockley when India were playing the third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy vs Australia.
Shah even watched the Test from the stadium and made a visit to the press box where he interacted with former cricketers like Sunil Gavaskar and Allan Border.

The ICC chair, during his time as Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary, played a key role in cricket’s inclusion in 2028 LA Olympics. Even when he took charge as ICC chair, Shah emphasised on the exciting time ahead for the sport.
“This is an exciting time for the sport as we prepare for the LA28 Olympic Games and work to make cricket more inclusive and engaging for fans worldwide,” Shah had said.
143rd IOC session
The IOC, in a statement in October 2024, gave details of the session in Lausanne.
“The International Olympic Committee (IOC) membership will meet on 30 January 2025 at Olympic House, Lausanne, for the presentation by the candidates for the IOC presidency and an Extraordinary IOC Session,” read the media statement.
It was followed up by another statement in December which said, “As previously announced, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) membership will meet on Thursday 30 January 2025 at Olympic House, Lausanne, for the in-camera presentation by the candidates for the IOC presidency.”
