NASHIK: Maharashtra’s women and child development minister Aditi Tatkare Saturday appealed to beneficiaries of Ladki Bahin Yojana to opt out of the scheme and return the money, if they were receiving double benefits or did not fit the scheme’s criteria. Tatkare told mediapersons that the dept was taking measures to weed out accounts of women who were not eligible or were receiving double benefits.
Govt is taking help of I-T dept and RTO to find out beneficiaries with annual income higher than Rs 2.5 lakh and possessing vehicles, excluding 2-wheelers. Their names are being deleted from the beneficiaries list. Even women beneficiaries who got a job after enrolling in the scheme, besides those with double entries or those married outside Maharashtra, will be removed. More than 4,000 beneficiaries had filed applications with the dept, voluntarily opting out of the scheme, Tatkare said.
