Elon Musk and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, often rivals in both business and space exploration, appear to have reconciled. The world’s two richest men publicly exchanged congratulatory messages this week, following the rocket launches by their respective companies, Blue Origin (Bezos) and SpaceX (Musk). This follows a recent dinner they shared at Mar-a-Lago.
Musk initiated the exchange with a congratulatory post on X (formerly Twitter) after Blue Origin’s New Glenn rocket reached orbit.

One clip showed the characters asking, “Did we just become best friends?”, which Musk called the “perfect meme” for their relationship. He also shared a clip from the film’s “Catalina Wine Mixer” scene, jokingly claiming it was “actual footage” of him and Bezos, and a photo of them from 2004, when both their companies were significantly smaller.
Musk’s net worth ($426 billion) currently exceeds Bezos’ ($235 billion) by approximately $190 billion. Bezos’ wealth is primarily tied to his Amazon stake, while Musk’s stems from his ownership in SpaceX, xAI, and Tesla.
This apparent reconciliation comes after a period of reported tension. There were earlier claims (denied by Bezos) that he had predicted a certain individual would lose a future election and advised others to sell Tesla and SpaceX stock. The two have a history of playful rivalry, including a 2021 comment by Musk about sending Bezos a “silver medal” after surpassing him as the world’s richest person. They also met at Mar-a-Lago last month, along with Mark Zuckerberg.
