A video showcasing the transformation of an IIT-Bombay graduate, Abhey Singh, into a saffron-clad “baba” at the Maha Kumbh 2025 has gone viral. Singh, who claims to be a former aerospace engineering student, left his career to pursue spirituality. The previous viral video, which shows Singh with a Rudraksha mala around his neck visiting Maha Kumbh 2025, sparked an online debate about life choices and the pursuit of happiness.

The video has accumulated nearly a million likes and several comments.
In the original video, Singh said: “I studied for four years at IIT-Bombay… Did MDS from there. But there was something amiss. Soon, I developed interest in arts and photography and had to teach physics at a coaching centre for one year to clear the entrance test.”
When asked about the reason behind his career shift, Singh said: “I have finally understood the truth… Gyan Ke Peeche Chalte Jao, Chalte Jao, Aur Kahan Jaoge, Yahin Aoge”
As Singh’s videos began circulating on social media, IIT-Bombay quickly became a trending topic, sparking an online debate. Singh, who is also quite active on social media, currently has 4,145 followers on Instagram.
