NEW DELHI: A 52-year-old doctor was found brutally murdered at his flat in south Delhi’s Maidangarhi on Thursday noon. Police arrested a suspect in the case within a few hours.
The accused was identified as Sunny Sharma (23), a nutritionist by profession. “He was known to the doctor. During preliminary questioning, the accused claimed that he killed the doctor because he behaved inappropriately with him.

We are probing further and corroborating the details,” said DCP (South) Ankit Chauhan.
The doctor’s body was discovered around 12 pm on Thursday when the doctor’s driver arrived to pick him up. The victim had stab wounds and appeared to have been assaulted. The murder seemed to have been committed the previous night.
“The doctor was a native of Odisha. He was found dead in his room with a cut mark on his neck and blood scattered all over the floor. A PCR call regarding the murder was received at the Maidangarhi police station at 11.55 am,” said another senior cop.
As the investigation unfolded, one suspect was identified in the CCTV footage and detained. During interrogation, he disclosed that he was a nutritionist and worked as a supplier of health and wellness products. “He got acquainted with the doctor two weeks ago, and he called him to his house on Wednesday for a diet subscription,” said the cop.
The accused visited the house of the doctor to share details of the diet subscription. “The doctor allegedly started misbehaving with him, after which the suspect slit his neck and killed him with a knife,” said the officer further.
Investigation revealed that the accused used a knife and scissors from the kitchen to commit the crime. The doctor, a native of Odisha, lived alone in the house.
The officer said, “We checked the doctor’s call details and found that his last conversation was with the accused. While tracking the accused, we located Sharma in Maidangarhi and he was nabbed. Further probe is underway.”
