Elon Musk issued a job offer to software engineers worldwide to join his vision of creating the “everything app.” In a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), Musk encouraged ‘hardcore software engineers’ engineers to send their best work to code@x.com, emphasizing that traditional credentials or past affiliations don’t matter—what matters is the quality of their code.
“If you’re a hardcore software engineer and want to build the everything app, please join us by sending your best work to code@x.com,” he wrote, further adding “We don’t care where you went to school or even whether you went to school or what “big name” company you worked at. Just show us your code.”
Elon Musk aims to make X into an ‘everything app’
This is not the first time that the Tesla CEO has talked about making an ‘everything app’.
The ‘everything app’ is part of Musk’s ambitious plan to transform X into a multi-functional platform that goes beyond social networking. The app is expected to integrate features like payments, messaging, e-commerce, and more, resembling a one-stop solution akin to China’s WeChat.
During an internal X meeting in October 2023, Elon Musk said “We’re rapidly transforming the company from what it was, Twitter 1.0, to the everything app”. He then told employees that the app is in the process of becoming “a single application that encompasses everything.”
X to launch streaming and financial services soon
X CEO Linda Yaccarino announced earlier this month that the microblogging platform will introduce financial and streaming services in 2025. In an X post, Yacaarino announced X Money and X TV, aiming to expand the platform beyond social media interactions. Alongside these features, enhancements to Grok, X’s AI chatbot, are also planned for 2025. She wrote “In 2024, X changed the world. Now, YOU are the media! 2025 X will connect you in ways never thought possible. X TV, X Money, Grok and more. Buckle up. Happy New Year!🥂”.
