Robotic dogs take center stage at 77th Army Day in Pune
In a remarkable display of technological advancement, a platoon of robotic dogs—also known as Multi-Utility Legged Equipment (MULEs)—took center stage during the Army Day march. The Indian Army recently added 100 of these robotic dogs to its arsenal, designed to enhance operational capabilities, especially in difficult terrains, while reducing the risks faced by human soldiers.
The robotic dogs were showcased prominently at the Southern Command Investiture Ceremony at the iconic BEG & Centre Parade Ground in Khadki, Pune. The event, presided over by Lt. Gen. Dhiraj Seth, AVSM, GOC-in-C Southern Command, not only celebrated military excellence but also highlighted the force’s commitment to innovation. The ceremony featured a majestic march past by eight distinguished contingents from various regimental centres, further showcasing the Army’s technological prowess through advanced weaponry and cutting-edge combat vehicles.
Indian Army Day is a day of reflection, remembrance, and inspiration, commemorating Field Marshal Cariappa’s leadership and India’s military autonomy. It honors the leadership transition that marked India’s self-reliance, pays tribute to soldiers who sacrificed their lives, and fosters patriotism and national unity.
