DUMKA: A woman was arrested and her minor daughter sent to an observation centre on Sunday after they allegedly killed a man, identified as Raju Mandal (25), who allegedly harassed them repeatedly, police said.
A police officer said, “The 40-year-old woman told us that Raju would regularly break into their house located at Radhanagar area in Sahibganj district at night in an inebriated state and resort to eve teasing her 15-year-old daughter for the past two months. The duo reportedly received no help from villagers, which emboldened his behaviour towards them. However, they did not file any complaint with the police regarding the eve-teasing incidents.”
Confessing to the charges, the mother-daughter duo told police that they wanted to stop Raju’s intrusions and placed a bamboo wrapped with exposed electrical wire at the entrance of their house on Saturday night. When Mandal attempted to enter the premises, he came in contact with the live wire and was electrocuted, the officer added.
