NEW DELHI: Amid growing resentment among INDIA bloc members, Jammu & Kashmir CM Omar Abdullah on Thursday questioned the relevance of the opposition combine and said the bloc should be dissolved in case it was just for the Lok Sabha elections. He also lamented the lack of clarity on the group’s future.
“Unfortunately, no INDIA meeting is being organised, so there is no clarity about leadership, agenda for future strategy or our (INDIA bloc’s) existence. As far as I remember, no time limit was set for this alliance. Who will lead? How will the alliance move forward? There is no discussion on these issues. There is no clarity on whether we will remain united or not,” he said.
Abdullah was responding to RJD functionary Tejashwi Yadav‘s comment that the bloc was meant only for the LS polls. “A meeting of INDIA bloc should be held after the Delhi polls to provide clarity. They should wind up the alliance in case it was just for Lok Sabha polls,” he added.
Last month, acknowledging the discontent of INDIA partners with Congress, Abdullah had asked the party to justify its leadership role instead of taking it for granted.
