CM launches projects worth Rs 985 crore in Saran

Patna: CM Nitish Kumar on Wednesday launched 52 development projects worth Rs 985 crore during his Pragati Yatra in Saran district. He also inaugurated the newly built Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Chhapra, constructed at a cost of Rs 655 crore.
Soon after the inauguration, the CM, accompanied by the health minister Mangal Pandey, development commissioner Pratyaya Amrit, and other senior officials, inspected the academic building, practical labs, and skill labs of the medical college and hospital.
He also visited the OPD, registration counter, and consultation rooms.
The CM expressed satisfaction over the construction work, highlighting the convenience it would bring to the people of Chhapra and nearby areas for treatment. “This institution will provide both education and patient care. I am very happy to learn that it is functional now,” Nitish said.
He also inaugurated and laid foundation stones for several developmental projects in the district via remote control from the hospital premises. Nitish also inspected the site for the widening and strengthening of the left-out Chhapra Path on NH-19 at Bishunpura Bypass under Chhapra sadar block and the proposed elevated road construction from Doriganj Bazar to Bishunpura.
The officials provided detailed information about the proposed widening and strengthening of the left-out section of the Chhapra Path on NH-19 involving cost of Rs 89.95 crore, the widening and strengthening of the Khera Beentolia Path costing Rs 40.53 crore, and the widening and strengthening of the Chhapra-Balia Mod-Manjhi-Darauli-Guthni Path costing Rs 701.26 crore.
The CM further asked the officials to expedite these roadworks for early completion, emphasising their importance for smooth traffic flow and relief from congestion.
