Drunk DTC bus conductor shoots driver dead after fight over liquor

NEW DELHI: A DTC bus conductor shot his bus driver friend dead over a peg of liquor in Alipur. Yogesh, the drunk conductor, while wanting to confess to police, drove his car to a children’s home, mistaking it for a police station, and confessed to a guard there.
After the murder, Yogesh took bus driver Manjeet’s body and set out for the nearest police station in a car. He stopped near the office of the children’s home and told the security guard, Pawan, there that he had killed his friend. Pawan alerted the police.
A team from the police station rushed to the spot and met Pawan. He told police that a car with a Delhi number plate came to the children’s home gate and tried to enter the premises. The man in the car seemed drunk. The other person seemed unconscious.
The police team tracked the car down near the children’s facility and found Yogesh in it. Manjeet’s body was also there.
Deputy commissioner of police (outer north) Nidhin Valsan said: “The driver of the vehicle was drunk. The second person had a gunshot injury on the right side of his chest and was dead.”
A cocked pistol and a magazine were in the car, near the victim’s legs. The deceased was identified as Manjeet, who lived in Mohammadpur village and worked as a driver. Yogesh, also from Mohammadpur, has been taken into custody.
