NEW DELHI: In the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy, pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah captained the Indian team in a couple of Tests.
With Rohit Sharma absent from the series opener due to personal reasons and also missing out the last Test after dropping himself, Bumrah guided the team to victory in Perth but had a loss to his name in Sydney.
With Rohit’s Test career now uncertain after an extended run rut with the bat, there have been talks to hand over the full time Test captaincy to Bumrah.
However, former India batter Mohammad Kaif feels that captaincy will put extra pressure on Bumrah and the cricket board should consider twice before handing in the responsibility to the 31-year-old on a full time basis.

In the 5 Tests in Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Bumrah led the bowling attack from the front, picking up 32 wickets in 9 outings.
He was the most successful bowler and was also adjudged Player of the Series.
Bumrah has so far played 45 matches in his Test career where he has 205 wickets at a superb average of 19.40.
As captain Bumrah has led the Indian team in 3 Tests where he has one win and a couple of defeats to his name.
