VIRUDHUNAGAR: Six workers were killed in a blast at a fireworks unit in Appaiyanaickenpatti, Sattur,Tamil Nadu on Saturday morning.
The explosion occurred while workers were mixing chemicals for cracker production, triggered by friction. The blast also caused three working sheds inside the unit to collapse.
The fireworks unit, Sainath Fireworks, is located in Appaiyanaickenpatti village, Sattur taluk, in Virudhunagar district.
Fire and rescue services are on the scene, working to put out the fire and clear the debris to check for any other workers who may be trapped underneath.
