NEW DELHI: Over 300 employees of Adani Airports – trained to manage big crowds – have volunteered to work as sevaks during the ongoing Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj – the biggest human congregation on Earth. A senior official from the conglomerate said these 300 from the airport vertical are among the 5,000 Adani Group employees currently deployed as sevaks during the Kumbh.
“These airport vertical employees, skilled in customer service, logistics, and crowd management, will play an important role in supporting lakhs of devotees at the world’s largest religious gathering.The volunteers from airports are part of a larger group of over 5,000 Adani employees who have pledged their time and efforts to ensure the smooth functioning of the iconic event,” said the official.
The group says it volunteers “will assist pilgrims with services such as guiding them to key locations, maintaining cleanliness, and managing large crowds at ghats and other high-traffic areas.”
“For the airport volunteers, their expertise in managing high footfall areas and providing hospitality will prove invaluable. Many of these employees see their participation as an opportunity to give back to the community,” the official said.
A volunteer from Adani Airports said: “Our teams are trained to handle complex operations with empathy and efficiency. This involvement at the Kumbh Mela is an extension of our commitment to serving people and contributing to societal welfare.”
The Adani Group says it has undertaken “significant initiatives to enhance pilgrim experience at the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj.” It has collaborated with organisations like ISKCON and Gita Press for distributing free meals and devotional literature.
“In partnership with ISKCON, the Adani Group has launched the Mahaprasad Seva program, aiming to serve sanctified meals to lakhs of pilgrims. Over the 45-day festival, approximately 100,000 devotees are being served daily at 40 locations across the festival grounds,” officials said.
About the Mahaprasad Seva, group chairman Gautam Adani said: “Kumbh is that sacred land of service where every hand automatically gets engaged in charity! It is my good fortune that in Maha Kumbh, in collaboration with ISKCON, we are starting ‘Mahaprasad Seva’ for the devotees, in which free food will be provided to lakhs of people with the blessings of Maa Annapurna.”
In a LinkedIn article, Gautam Adani highlighted three core principles derived from the Kumbh Mela that can be applied to leadership and management: “scale with soul, inclusive growth and cultural confidence.”
