4 dead, 13 injured as truck overturns in Maharashtra's Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

NEW DELHI: At least 4 labourers lost their lives, and 13 others sustained injuries when a speeding truck overturned in Maharashtra’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district early Monday, police reported.
The accident occurred in the Pishor Ghat section while the truck, loaded with sugarcane, was traveling from Kannad to Pishor, according to an official.
The vehicle was carrying 17 labourers when the driver lost control at Pishor ghat, causing the truck to overturn. The impact caused the labourers to be thrown onto the road, where they became trapped beneath the fallen sugarcane cargo.
Rescue efforts revealed four fatalities amongst the labourers, whilst 13 others were successfully rescued. The survivors were immediately transported to a nearby hospital where they continue to receive medical treatment, as confirmed by the official.
7 dead, 14 injured in truck-SUV collision in Madhya Pradesh
In a separate incident, seven people lost their lives, and 14 others were injured in a truck-SUV collision in Madhya Pradesh’s Sidhi district early Monday.
The accident occurred around 2.30am near Upni Petrol Pump on Sidhi-Bahri Road, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Gayatri Tiwari. An SUV, operating as a taxi service and carrying a family, was heading towards Maihar when it collided head-on with a truck traveling from Sidhi to Bahri.
Nine of the injured have been referred to Rewa for advanced medical treatment, while the remaining victims are being treated at the Sidhi district hospital. The truck driver has been detained, and further investigations are underway.
