ROURKELA: At least three workers are feared trapped after a coal bunker collapsed at Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Limited’s Rajgangpur plant in Sundargarh district around 5:30 pm on Thursday.
Rajgangpur police station IIC M R Pradhan confirmed three persons to be missing and it is suspected they have got trapped under the heap of coal. “As of now, we have come to know that three men are missing. Rescue operation is continuing,” said Pradhan.
“I have received information about the coal bunker collapse from company officials and we are rushing to the spot,” said Bibhu Prasad, deputy director of factory & boiler, Rourkela.
A spokesperson of the company said rescue operation is going on and he has nothing more to share for the moment.
Tension prevailed outside the cement unit as worried family members gathered at the plant gate. Sources reported that four cranes and an ambulance have been deployed at the site. The coal bunker, which supplies fuel to the plant’s boiler, typically stores large quantities of coal.
