AGRA: Five traders returning home after organising a ‘bhandara’ (community feast) in Goverdhan in Mathura district met with an accident after their car was hit by an unidentified vehicle, leaving three dead and two injured. The accident happened in an area under Iglas police station on the Mathura-Aligarh road late on Wednesday.
According to police, the victims were from Bisauli in Garh, Badaun. They were rushed to hospital where doctors declared Sachin Varshney, 38, Mohit Raj Gupta, 41, and Vikas, 39, (only first name is available) dead. Shashikant Gupta, 40, and Anshul, 39, (only first name is available) suffered severe injuries and are recuperating in hospital.
Sachin owned a cold storage unit, Mohit owned a mobile phone shop and Vikas owned a hotel in Badaun. Shashikant and Anshul run hardware stores. Deputy SP, Iglas, Mahesh Kumar said, “A case will be registered after we receive a complaint. Police teams are scanning CCTV footage to trace the offending vehicle. The bodies were handed over to families after conducting a postmortem examination. The injured are in hospital and are out of danger.”
