3 soldiers dead, 2 injured as Army vehicle plunges into gorge in Jammu and Kashmir's Bandipora district

NEW DELHI: Three soldiers died and two others were injured when an Army vehicle veered off the road and fell into a deep gorge near the Wular Viewpoint in Bandipora district, according to officials on Saturday.
The soldiers were immediately rushed to a hospital for treatment.

Taking to X, Army’s Chinar Corps said that an Indian Army vehicle skidded and plunged into a gorge in Bandipora district while on duty, citing inclement weather and poor visibility as contributing factors.
“Injured soldiers were promptly evacuated for medical care with assistance from Kashmiri locals, for which we express gratitude towards the citizens in providing immediate succour,” they posted on X.

“Tragically three brave hearts lost their lives in the unfortunate accident. Indian Army extends heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families,” the Army added.
Medical superintendent of district hospital Bandipora, Dr Masarat Iqbal Wani had earlier stated that, “5 injured were brought here, out of which 2 were brought dead, 3 injured who were in critical condition have been referred to Srinagar for further treatment.”
Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, expressed his condolences, stating, “Deeply grieved by the loss of lives of Indian Army personnel due to a tragic road accident in Bandipora. The nation is deeply grateful for their service and commitment. My condolences to the bereaved families and prayers for the speedy recovery of the injured.”
