JAMMU: As many as 14 foreign terrorists were killed and 13 terror modules busted in J&K’s Jammu division in 2024, a police spokesperson said Wednesday, adding that 827 overground workers were also booked for anti-national activities in the period.
“In 2024, Jammu Zone achieved significant progress in security and crime control. On the anti-terror front, the killing of 14 foreign terrorists dealt a critical blow to terror networks attempting to disrupt peace and stability in the region,” the spokesperson said.
“Of the 13 terror modules busted across Jammu, one each was unearthed in Rajouri and Reasi, two each in Poonch and Kathua districts, three in Udhampur and four in Doda,” said the spokesperson.
Police maintained constant pressure on anti-national elements and cracked down on 827 OGWs in 2024, as compared to 282 in 2023. “As many as 180 people were detained under the Public Safety Act in 2024. This figure was 168 in 2023,” the spokesperson said.
“In 2024, 476 NDPS cases were registered and 9.99kg of heroin seized from LoC area in Nowshera sector in April, and 33.58kg from Jammu bus stand area in Aug, leading to multiple arrests. Properties were seized/frozen in 84 NDPS cases, with nine cases confirmed by the competent authority SAFEMA [Smugglers and Foreign Exchange Manipulators (Forfeiture of Property) Act],” the spokesperson said.
